Six Months, a New Puppy, and a Whole Lot of Love

S I X M O N T H S!

Baby in denim overalls sits on a wooden rocking horse with rope, in a golden outdoor field at sunset, calm and curious.
Cowboy Rhett

How is it even possible that Rhett William is already half a year old?!

It seems like just yesterday I was documenting the anticipation of his arrival, and then welcoming this sweet little boy into the Parsons family's world. And now, here we are, six months later, with a smiling, happy little cowboy who is already stealing hearts!

Smiling baby in denim overalls holds a rusty fence in a sunny field with yellow wildflowers.
Just Rhett in his little overalls.

One of the things I love most about my Where Life Grows documentary project is watching life unfold through the seasons. Not just the changing leaves or the growing animals on the farm, but the little milestones that happen along the way. The ones that seem so ordinary in the moment but become some of our most treasured memories.

And this chapter? It's a pretty special one.

Six Months of Rhett William 🤎

Let's check in on our littlest cowboy!

✔️ Infectious smile! Seriously, this little guy lights up the moment he grins.

✔️ Has his big sisters wrapped around his little finger! Audrey and Elena certainly have a soft spot for their baby brother, and it's pretty easy to see why.

✔️ Ready for adventure! From sitting in the grass to climbing aboard his wooden rocking horse, Rhett looks like he's ready to take on farm life

✔️ Already rocking those cowboy boots! Because when you're growing up in the Parsons family, you might as well start young!

Watching Rhett grow throughout this project has been such a joy. Every time I visit, there's something new. A new expression, a new milestone, a little more personality shining through.

And that smile! I don't think anyone stands a chance against it.

There's a New Face on the Farm! 🐾

As if three kids, horses, and all the other farm animals weren't enough to keep the Parsons family busy, they've added another little bundle of energy to the mix!

Meet Chase!

Playful blue heeler puppy running on sunlit grass at golden hour, ears perked and tongue out.

This adorable little Australian Cattle Dog puppy is the newest member of the family, and judging by these photographs, he's already making himself right at home!

There's something about a puppy on a farm. Those oversized ears, little paws, endless curiosity, and the determination to investigate absolutely everything.

And of course, Chase has already found a friend in Rhett. That sweet little puppy kiss on Rhett's cheek might just be one of my favorite moments from this visit!

Baby in plaid shirt sits in grass as a speckled puppy licks his cheek, with an adult in jeans standing behind.

Two little boys, both with a whole lot of growing to do. I have a feeling these two are going to have some adventures together.

A Family, a Season, and the Beauty of Growing Together 🍂

Fall has always been one of my favorite times of year to photograph families, and this evening certainly reminded me why.

The golden leaves, the warm autumn light, and the beautiful colors surrounding the Parsons farm created the perfect backdrop for this chapter of their story.

But as beautiful as the scenery was, what I loved most were the moments between them.

Abbey lifting Rhett into the air and covering his cheeks with kisses. Dad holding his little boy, both looking right at home in their cowboy boots. Audrey and Elena snuggling their baby brother between them. The family dogs joining in, because of course they belong in the family photographs, too!

And one of my favorite images from the evening? The entire family walking away together, hand in hand, with Rhett looking back over Dad's shoulder.

There's something so meaningful about that photograph.

Five people, walking into the next chapter of their lives together, surrounded by the beautiful chaos of the life they've built.

This Is Why I Started Where Life Grows 🌱

When I began this documentary project with the Parsons family, I wanted to capture more than beautiful photographs.

I wanted to document a year in their lives. The everyday moments, the changing seasons, the animals, the milestones, and everything in between.

Because life doesn't stand still.

Babies grow. Puppies get bigger. Little girls become young ladies. Seasons come and go. And the things we sometimes take for granted today become the memories we wish we could revisit tomorrow.

Six months ago, Rhett was just beginning his story. Today, he's smiling from ear to ear, surrounded by two adoring sisters, loving parents, and a whole farm full of life.

And now Chase has joined the story, too!

That's the beauty of Where Life Grows. It's not about creating a perfect moment. It's about preserving the beautiful life that's already happening.

Happy Half Birthday, Rhett William! 🤎

Keep smiling, little cowboy. You've got a whole lot of adventures ahead of you.

And welcome to the family, Chase! I have a feeling you're going to fit right in.

Until the next chapter...
